Guardian Homes

Why Guardian Homes?

In order that all our breeding dogs have a full and happy life we limit the amount of dogs we keep at our home. This is why we do Guardian Homes. Guardian Homes allow us to have more dogs without having to use a kennel. This way every dog gets the love and attention it deserves.

As a Guardian Home you get a pick of the litter puppy free of charge. Prairie Grace Farm retains breeding rights until the dog has given birth to 4-6 litters. Prairie Grace Farm pays for the spaying/neutering. A male dogs breeding time is typically longer and more on an “as needed” basis.

If you are considering becoming a Guardian Home, there are a few things to consider. You will have to be flexible, be wiling to deal with heat cycles, and keep your female/male away from other dogs. It is a win-win situation because you get a free high quality dog and we get a breeding dog that has a loving home were it gets the attention it needs!

What we require in our guardian homes

  • You must live within 90 min of us, and be flexible with dropping off and picking up the dog for health testing, vet visits, breeding, and whelping

  • Keep the dog safe and contained at all times (fenced in yard)

  • Prairie Grace Farm pays for all breeding related expenses while the dog is in our program. The Guardian is responsible for all pet related expenses

  • Provide basic training (leash, crate, and basic obedience training)

  • You must be flexible and willing to communicate

  • You must keep the dog away from other dogs when the dog is in heat

  • You must be okay with your dog staying with us for the week before the dog gives birth and up to six weeks after birth

If you are considering becoming a Guardian Home please make sure you qualify with the list above and then please contact us!
